Seward Rutkove Laboratory

Our focus is on translational research into the development of novel diagnostics and therapeutics for the care of individuals with neuromuscular disease. Our lab focuses on a wide range of disorders affecting adults and children, including:

  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  • Neuropathies
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Radiculopathy and spinal nerve compression syndromes
  • Spinal muscular atrophy
  • Inflammatory myopathies

Much of our work involves the refinement of innovative bioengineering approaches to diagnosing and treating these disorders. However, we are also interested in studying mechanism of disease pathogenesis and potential therapeutics. Finally, we also have an abiding interest in clinical neurophysiological measures as well as novel indices of disease status.
