Dietetic Internship Application Process
How To Apply
Applicants can apply to the BIDMC dietetic internship in two ways:
Application Timeline
Application deadlines are the same for both tracks. Students may apply in either the Fall cycle or Spring cycle.
In either case, accepted students would begin the September following the Spring Cycle (for example, students who accept admission in either November 2025 or March 2026 will begin their program in September 2026).
Fall Cycle Dates
- October 8: Applicants must submit all application materials on DICAS
- November 1: Programs must notify applicants of the program’s decision by the end of the business day
- November 15: Applicants must notify the program by either accepting or declining the offer by 5:00pm EST
Spring Cycle Dates
- January 15: Applicants must submit all application materials on DICAS
- March 1: Programs must notify applicants of the program’s decision by the end of the business day
- March 15: Applicants must notify the program by either accepting or declining the offer by 5:00 pm EST
Admission Requirements
- Education:
- BIDMC DI only: Must have a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, and DPD Verification Statement prior to the start of the internship.
- BU MS + BIDMC DI: Must have a Bachelor’s degree and DPD Verification Statement prior to the start of the graduate program.
- GPA: Both BIDMC and Boston University prefer a minimum GPA of 3.0. However, we will not disqualify an applicant on GPA exclusively.
- BIDMC Has a Recency of Education Requirement: If an applicant’s DPD Verification is more than 3 years old at the time of application, the applicant must show evidence of at least six credits completed in dietetics-related coursework, or equivalent, within three years of admission to the program).
- BIDMC does not give credit for prior work experience/learning, nor waive any DI requirements.
- All DI program requirements must be completed in full.
Regarding Boston-area Due Dates and Notification Dates
For the convenience of applicants who apply to multiple programs in/near the city, Boston-area independent dietetic internships and universities have collaborated to coordinate application and notification due dates.
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston University, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Delicious Living Nutrition, the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Simmons University, Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts, together, agreed to align dates for the Fall and Spring application cycles.
