About Our Laboratory
Our laboratory is conveniently located on the first floor of Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare-Chelsea. Members of our laboratory staff are bilingual to help accommodate the culturally diverse population we serve.
As soon as tests are completed, data/results are available for BIDMC and affiliated providers to review in our online medical record system. Your lab reports are printed daily by the phlebotomists on-site, and distributed to your physician, including physicians practicing outside of the BIDMC network.
Lab Hours
The hours of the Lab have changed to the following.
- Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 5:15 pm
- Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
- Saturday: Closed

We accept most major insurances. For specific insurance information, please call 617-975-6020.
Fasting
What is fasting?
Fasting requires that you do not eat or drink anything eight to 10 hours prior to your lab test. Water consumption is allowed and encouraged. All medications should be taken as usual.
Do I need to fast?
Certain tests such as glucose or cholesterol panel require fasting. Please consult with your physician before visiting the lab.
