Weight Loss and Wellness Program
BIDMC has a strong awareness of the complexities associated with metabolic disorders, including complications stemming from obesity, type 2 diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
We are prepared to address these complications and improve your health through our innovative and medically supervised weight loss and wellness program, offered by the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
This unique and comprehensive program will encourage participants to explore and overcome challenges associated with weight loss, while developing the behavior modification skills to support a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.

Program Overview
Wellpowered provides individual guidance and weekly group education sessions that emphasize forward-thinking dietary, physical activity and behavior modification techniques to achieve weight loss.
Strengthen your skills and motivation to improve your health through our innovative, medically supervised weight loss and wellness program. Up-to-date medical and scientifically proven information will be provided to you in an approachable, supportive and structured environment.
A physician and nutritionist will work with you to create an individualized action plan to achieve weight loss and improve quality of life.
Join our comprehensive program that will provide you with the tools for executing effective and sustainable strategies to improve your long-term health in the following areas:

- Setting the Wellness Intention: Creating an Action Plan
- Planning, Purchasing and Preparing Healthy Food Choices
- Healthy Eating to Maximize Your Metabolism
- Setting Goals & Staying Skillfully Aware
- Creating Awareness to Prevent Relapse and Behavioral Fatigue
Curriculum also includes weekly healthy food tasting with recipes and preparation information provided; virtual grocery store and restaurant visits; and a cooking demonstration. Participation in formal mindfulness training sessions to identify internal and external eating triggers; tolerate food cravings; and improve coping ability and resilience- to better strengthen long-term commitment to health awareness and effective weight loss and weight management.
Research has shown that routine, active participation in medically supervised group sessions results in significantly better long-term weight management.
