Critical Care Transport Collaborative Outcomes Research Effort

Critical Care Transport Collaborative Outcomes Research Effort (CCT CORE) is a cooperative research group founded in 2008 with support from MedEvac Foundation International. CCT CORE's chief aim is to facilitate greater communication and collaboration in critical care transport (especially helicopter EMS) outcomes research. CCT CORE's ongoing work is supported by the Division of EMS (including the EMS fellowship program) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School.

CCT CORE's initial project, a 10-center North American study assessing air and ground transport management practices, appeared in 2010 in Prehospital Emergency Care. Since then, the group has continued to work towards improving our understanding of the many facets of transport medicine.

Current CCT CORE projects include evaluations (systematic reviews with or without meta-analyses) of various sets of the HEMS literature, as well as maintaining a list of all HEMS outcomes research titles in the English-language evidence base. The outcomes studies listing, known as the HEMS Outcomes Assessment Research Database (HOARD), also includes information on diagnostic focus of the studies.

If you are interested in learning more about CCT CORE, HOARD or HEMS-related research ideas please email Dr. Stephen Thomas.
