BIDMC OnDemand is a new service that will help provide you easy and timely access from anywhere in Massachusetts to our emergency medicine doctors . Simply download the free app on your phone or tablet or connect through your desktop. You can do a video consult with a BIDMC doctor without leaving your home or spending time in a waiting room and get immediate answers about your non-life threatening condition. You will also have access to care after hours and on weekends and most holidays.
BIDMC OnDemand is private and secure, HIPAA-compliant app. You can be assured that your private health information is safe and not shared with anyone. This cost-effective option does not require medical insurance. If you do have insurance, the cost may be less than your emergency department or urgent care visit co-pay.

What is not appropriate for a BIDMC OnDemand visit?
This service is not for medical emergencies. Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you feel you are experiencing any of the following emergency medical problems:
Chest pain or pressure
Sudden or severe pain
Coughing / vomiting blood
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Sudden dizziness, weakness, change in vision, slurred speech, numbness or other neurological changes
Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea
Changes in mental status, such as confusion
Assault, physical or sexual abuse or child abuse

BIDMC OnDemand is easily accessed using a computer, phone or tablet. Using Chrome or Firefox as your browser, access BIDMC OnDemand by clicking here, or on your iOS and Android devices by searching “BIDMC OnDemand” and downloading the free app.
Select “Register Here” and follow the steps to create your unique profile.
Login using your unique username and password and follow the instructions for scheduling a virtual visit either right away or a time in the future.
Select “video” and not "phone" when selecting “encounter type.”
After logging into the BIDMC OnDemand application, you will be connected to a video consult with one of our emergency medicine physicians. The physician will review your medical information, as well as at their discretion, diagnose and provide care for your medical condition and answer any questions you may have. If necessary, the physician will prescribe medication that is sent to your local pharmacy.
Any iOS or Android mobile device, such as a tablet or smartphone, as well as any camera enabled Mac or PC can be used to access the service. BIDMC physicians can, at their discretion, prescribe medication as needed. Please note that by law, narcotics/opiates cannot be prescribed via telehealth visits. Also, the service does not provide prescriptions for muscle relaxants or erectile dysfunction medications.
BIDMC OnDemand is staffed by practicing physicians from the emergency medicine network of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians. All of our virtual care providers work clinical shifts at various emergency departments and urgent care centers throughout our network.
If your BIDMC OnDemand provider cannot diagnose your condition over the online platform and recommends that you be seen in person, they will refer you to an emergency department or urgent care location.
