Silverman Institute for Health Care Quality and Safety
Founded in 2007 by Mrs. Lois Silverman and her late husband Norman, the Silverman Institute for Health Care Quality and Safety is the coordinating hub for the wide array of BIDMC quality and safety initiatives. The mission of the Institute is to promote excellence in patient care through sponsorship of innovation, education, and research in quality and safety.
BIDMC is a national leader in our efforts to improve the quality and safety of our patients' care, as recognized by the American Hospital Association's McKesson Quest for Quality Prize awarded to us in 2013. BIDMC has also been consistently recognized for the last decade by The Leapfrog Group as one of the nation's Top Hospitals for meeting standards for safe, high quality care.
Our Center for Healthcare Delivery Science demonstrates work where research, science, and quality patient care intersect.
Annually, the Silverman Institute for Health Care Quality and Safety brings together nationally recognized leaders in health care quality and safety with members of the BIDMC community for the Silverman Symposium, an event designed to promote discussion and the exchange of ideas for improving health care quality and safety.
The Silverman Symposium provides Board members, senior executives, clinicians, residents and interns, nurses, administrators, and all staff of BIDMC and its affiliates an opportunity to explore ideas together and share experiences in promoting a broader understanding and appreciation of quality and patient safety opportunities and improvements throughout the BIDMC community.
