Continuing Education in Mental Health
The Department of Psychiatry's Continuing Education Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides continuing education to mental health practitioners and other health professionals beyond their formal training. Most of the programs and conferences are presented in conjunction with Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education. The major goal of CEP is to provide expertise and information in the field of mental health and related fields to all practitioners and enable them to keep abreast of new developments in research, practice, and theory.
Director of Continuing Education – Lawrence E. Lifson, MD
Lawrence Lifson, MD is a lecturer on Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is the Director of the Continuing Education Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is on the faculty of the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Lifson is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the 2012 recipient of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society's "Outstanding Psychiatrist in Education Award." He is editor of Understanding Therapeutic Action: Current Concepts of Cure and The Mental Health Practitioner and the Law and The Psychology of Investing.
