The Department of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides an opportunity to expose medical students to the field of emergency medicine through a wide range of opportunities including clinical, didactic and research experiences. Emergency Medicine allows students to develop their skills in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients. Students are also exposed to a variety of clinical procedures. As a Level 1 trauma center with an annual patient volume of approximately 57,000 patients, the ED serves as the clinical training site for approximately 100 medical students each year.
