Research Opportunities for Medical Students

The Department of Emergency Medicine at BIDMC has an active research program in both basic and clinical sciences. We have active programs in Sepsis, Resuscitation, Geriatrics, Public Health, and Health Services research in addition to many others. Clinical Informatics Elective in Emergency Medicine for Medical Students

The Department of Emergency Medicine runs a 2 month full time student elective in clinical informatics. This informatics elective is open to emergency medicine medical students with a strong foundation in computer programming. It is intended to introduce learners to EM Informatics through a focused research project in one of our areas of interest. The overall goals are to introduce learners to 1) formal methods in clinical informatics, 2) research methodologies to evaluate informatics interventions, 3) the role of informatics in emergency care.
