The Division of Allergy and Inflammation specializes in the diagnosis, testing, and management of allergies, asthma, and allergic immune system disorders. We are also home to research faculty doing leading-edge work to improve lives.

Asthma
Asthma is a chronic disease causes inflammation in your airways. The inflammation makes the airways very sensitive, and they tend to react strongly to things that you are allergic to or find irritating.
Common Allergies
An allergy is an abnormal reaction to certain substances called allergens. These allergens may be inhaled, swallowed, or come in contact with the skin to trigger a reaction.
Eosinophilic Disorders
Eosinophilic disorders occur when eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, are found in above-normal amounts in various parts of the body. It can affect your esophagus, mouth, intestines and various organs.
New Outpatient Clinic Location
The Division of Allergy and Inflammation provides general outpatient allergy and clinical immunology services to adult and adolescent patients starting at age 12. The main office is located at 110 Francis Street in the Lowry Medical Office Building (LMOB), Boston. Additionally, the Division sees patients at a satellite facility at 482 Bedford Street, Lexington.
Inpatient Consultation Service
The Division also maintains an inpatient consultation service at the main BIDMC campus. We are available to assist with any allergic or immunological issues, including the evaluation and management of drug allergy, drug desensitization, cutaneous eruptions, anaphylaxis and primary immunodeficiency workup.
