Molecular and Vascular Medicine Research

The Division of Molecular Medicine was created in 1989 at the BIDMC to foster hospital-based basic and translational sciences. Recognizing the emergence of vascular biology as a critical area of research and development, the division was renamed Molecular and Vascular Medicine in 1993. The goal of the Division is to create the first-of-its-kind bench-to-bedside program in vascular/endothelial biomedicine.

The strategic plan of the Division is focused on three complementary areas:

  1. basic science research
  2. translational research, and
  3. clinical care.

The Division of Molecular and Vascular Medicine complements and interacts closely with the existing inter-departmental hospital wide Center for Vascular Biology Research.
