Christina C. Wee, MD, MPH is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Obesity Research Program in the Division of General Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). She is also the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Program at BIDMC and Deputy Editor of the Annals of Internal Medicine. Prior to assuming her position as Deputy Editor, Dr. Wee was the Program-Director of the Harvard-wide General Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship Program (2006-2018) and Associate Section Chief for Research in the Division of General Medicine at BIDMC (2012-2018). Dr. Wee is a board-certified internist with more than 20 years of experience as a practicing primary care clinician. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC.

Dr. Wee graduated with a BS degree in Chemistry from Ursinus College in 1989 and received her MD from Jefferson Medical College in 1994. She completed her residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in 1997, and General Medicine Fellowship at the Harvard Combined Fellowship Program in 1999 when she also received her MPH in Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Wee's research focuses on obesity, health disparities, and patient preferences and decision-making in the context of weight treatment and primary care. Her work has been funded by numerous foundation and federal/NIH grants and leverages a combination of research methods including survey research, development of epidemiologic cohorts, clinical interventions, and analyses of large complex national datasets. Her projects include an R01 funded study of the role of race on health outcomes associated with obesity and a second R01 funded multicenter study to examine patient preferences, decision-making and long-term health and quality of life outcomes associated with bariatric surgery. In addition, Dr. Wee is has mentored and collaborated more broadly in areas such as immigrant and women's health, cancer screening, and medical decision-making.

An outstanding investigator and mentor, Dr. Wee was inducted into the American Society for Clinical Investigation in 2012 and is the recipient of several regional and national awards including a NIH-funded K24 Midcareer Mentorship Award, the 2010 Harvard Medical School A. Clifford Barger Award for Excellence in Mentoring, and the 2011 Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Midcareer Research and Mentorship Award. She was also former chair of the SGIM Research Committee, a former Deputy Editor and member of the editorial board for the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and a former Associate Editor for JAMA Internal Medicine.
