Serving as a Coinvestigator

The Division of Cardiac Anesthesia has developed and maintained a solid research program consisting of “home grown” clinical projects, primarily centered around transesophageal echocardiography, as well as multi-disciplinary, multicenter clinical trials.

All members of the Critical Care Division maintain active research interests, including intensive care outcomes, echocardiography in the ICU, mechanical ventilation, lung recruitment, resuscitation from cardiac arrest, and hyperoxia in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass.

The Division of Obstetric Anesthesia has a number of active projects currently underway. Residents and fellows are encouraged to participate in or conduct clinical research.

Research continues to thrive in the Division of Pain Medicine. Division members participate in studies supported by intramural and extramural grants. Our fellows receive guidance and are encouraged to participate in any ongoing studies.

Headache research at BIDMC is housed in several dedicated labs committed to treating and preventing migraines and chronic pain in the head and face.

Our researchers are dedicated to finding the causes and treatments for chronic inflammatory diseases.

The Education Division actively studies new teaching methodologies and technology to improve medical education.

Improving Quality, Safety, and Innovation in healthcare is a top priority for BIDMC researchers.
