New inpatient building construction is advancing on BIDMC’s West Campus. Here are some construction activities to watch for while you’re visiting our campus:
Ongoing Activities
In 2020, construction crews will install the foundation and begin structural steel.
If you’re traveling along Brookline Avenue, Francis Street or the Riverway, you will see significant crane activity.
Completed Activities
BIDMC has reached several construction milestones for our new building:
- Massachusetts Department of Public Health approved BIDMC’s Determination of Need (DoN) for the building, enabling our project to move forward while creating opportunities to support community health
- The Berenson Emergency Department patient drop-off and walk-in entrance relocated to the Rosenberg building front entrance at 1 Deaconess Road
- New inpatient building groundbreaking
- Vehicle traffic patterns changed along Pilgrim Road—a segment of Pilgrim Road between Deaconess Road and Francis Street is closed to non-emergency vehicles
