PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program FAQs

There is one PGY2 Cardiology resident. Other BIDMC residency programs include four PGY1 residents, two PGY2 Critical Care residents, two PGY2 Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship residents, and one PGY2 Ambulatory Care resident.

No. While attendance at the meeting provides a direct opportunity to discuss our program, we recognize that not everyone is able to attend. Selections for interviews will be based on our review of the submitted applications through PHORCAS.

Completed applications will be reviewed by pharmacy staff members to determine candidates that most closely match the BIDMC program goals and opportunities. Your letter of intent, CV, scholastic record and letters of recommendation weigh highly in the review process. We also consider work experience, career goals, leadership activities, teaching experience and involvement in professional activities as important factors in our selection process.

The salary for the 2024-2025 Residency Year is $55,000.00.

Residents will staff every third weekend and up to two major holiday(s) on a cardiac medicine site. This may change depending on the needs of the pharmacy department.

Each resident will attend a general hospital orientation, followed by training within the central pharmacy and cardiac practice sites. This training will provide insight into the operational workflow and policies and procedures of the pharmacy and medical center. Orientation to MCPHS University (school of pharmacy) will be coordinated during this time.

BIDMC's affiliation with MCPHS University provides the resident with a number of teaching opportunities. The resident will facilitate therapeutic seminars/patient case discussions at MCPHS. Additional teaching opportunities include didactic teaching, precepting, and in-services.
