PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Application Process

Qualifications for participation in the PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency are in accordance with criteria set forth by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).

• Graduate of an ASHP Accredited PGY1 Pharmacy training degree program
• Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program
• Residents must be licensed or eligible for licensure in order to be licensed in MA within 90 days of the commencement of the residency
• Residents must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Work authorization sponsorship for this position is unavailable
• Residents shall participate in and obey the rules of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) Resident Matching Program

Your application and all supporting documentation must be received by January 5, 2024.

Application templates are available electronically using the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application (PhORCAS). All applicants must provide the following:

• Letter of Interest, including a statement of professional goals and reasons for pursuing a PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency
• Curriculum Vitae
• Three Letters of Recommendation
• Official Pharmacy School Transcript

Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited for an interview with the program director and selected pharmacists. An interview can be arranged only when your application file is complete.

• Completed application packets will be reviewed by select pharmacy staff members to determine candidates that most closely match the BIDMC program goals and opportunities.
• Selected candidates will be invited to interview with members of the Cardiology Pharmacy team, the Residency Program Director and Coordinator, Pharmacy Management, and potentially physicians. The interview will include a short PowerPoint presentation to the group.
• Following the interview process, residency candidates will be ranked based upon the collaborative input with regard to the interviews and qualifications of the candidate.
• A rank list will be submitted to the Resident Matching Program.

Residents matched to the BIDMC Residency program will receive an acceptance letter acknowledging the match and delineating the general terms and conditions of the residency. Acknowledgment in writing by the resident will constitute acceptance of the match and agreement to fulfill the duties of the residency position for the upcoming year.

Participation in the BIDMC PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program is contingent on securing and maintaining a license without restriction in the State of Massachusetts. It is expected that the resident will complete these licensure requirements within 90 days of the commencement of the program.

The resident will provide the Residency Program Director confirmation that:

• They have already taken or are scheduled to take the NAPLEX and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE), or
• They will take the MPJE upon successful transfer of NAPLEX scores from another state, or
• They already have a valid MA pharmacy license.
• Upon notification of successful completion of the NAPLEX and/or MPJE the resident will provide documentation of licensure to the Residency Program Director.
• Failure to attain licensure is grounds for dismissal from the residency program. Residents should contact the Residency Program Director should any issues arise with licensure.
