Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency FAQs

There is one PGY2 Ambulatory Care resident. Other BIDMC residency programs include four PGY1 residents, two PGY2 Critical Care residents, two PGY2 Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship residents, and one Solid Organ Transplant resident.

No. While attendance at the meeting provides a direct opportunity to discuss our program, we recognize that not everyone is able to attend. Selections for interviews will be based on our review of the submitted applications through PHORCAS.

Completed applications will be reviewed by pharmacy staff members to determine candidates that most closely match the BIDMC program goals and opportunities. Your letter of intent, CV, scholastic record and letters of recommendation weigh highly in the review process. We also consider work experience, career goals, leadership activities, teaching experience and involvement in professional activities as important factors in our selection process.

Interviews will be virtual this year. The process entails meetings with the Residency Program Director and other pharmacy staff. Each applicant will be asked to give a brief PowerPoint presentation during the interview day.

The salary for the 2023-2024 Residency Year is $54,000.00.

The resident will staff longitudinally in an ambulatory clinic one half-day per week throughout the residency.

Each resident will attend a general orientation to BIDMC followed by a more focused orientation and training program within the ambulatory setting. Orientation to the MCPHS University will be coordinated during this time.

Required rotations provide the resident with a broad experience in core elements of ambulatory care. A range of elective rotations allows the residents to customize the rest of their year to meet their specific training goals. Pharmacy integration into 15 clinics across all BIDMC campuses (and counting) allows for many opportunities for unique and tailored learning experiences.

BIDMC's affiliation with MCPHS University provides the resident with a number of teaching opportunities. The resident will facilitate therapeutic seminars/patient case discussions at MCPHS. Additional teaching opportunities include didactic teaching, precepting, and in-services.
