About Our Fellowship Application Process


BIDMC's Division of General Medicine and Primary Care, Section of Palliative Medicine will be accepting applications for the Hospice Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program through ERAS. Interviews for invited applicants will be held from September through early October. BIDMC participates in the National Residency Match Program.

Applications are holistically reviewed by our Selection Committee on a rolling basis starting in July. In particular, we are looking for your commitment to palliative care, as demonstrated by:

  • Experience rotating with hospice or palliative care teams
  • Teaching, scholarly work, and/or leadership
  • A strong narrative describing your interest in the field

Program Application Requirements

  • Dean's letter or MSPE from medical school
  • Medical school transcript
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your Residency
  • USMLE Step I, II, and III or COMLEX-equivalent board scores
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum Vitae as submitted through ERAS
What surprised me the most during my fellowship was our roles after the patient passed away. Helping patient's family with grief and bereavement is a big thing.
