K Awards
A National Institutes of Health (NIH) primary grant mechanism for supporting new and mid-career investigators is the Mentored Career Development Award or " K Award." A letter of support from your mentor must accompany your application and can certainly make or break your chances of receiving the award. We provide here a sample letter of support that contains all the elements of a strong mentor support letter. A budget for your research project must also be submitted. We also provide here a sample budget template that will assist you to complete that element of the grant submission process.

NRSA
Another type of NIH award is the National Research Service Award ("NRSA"). NRSA individual fellowships support predoctoral and postdoctoral training of individuals undertaking biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research.
Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) training
As part of its research mission to understand and improve treatments of disease, BIDMC understands that the medical center and its researchers have a responsibility to abide by the laws and regulations that govern federally funded research. As such, BIDMC is committed to the education and training of faculty in the responsible stewardship of federal funds.
