Rehabilitation Services at Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare-Lexington provides outpatient physical and occupational therapy.
Rehabilitation Services at BIDHC-Lexington cares for patients from BIDMC and the local metrowest area ranging from adolescents to seniors. We treat a variety of impairments stemming from sports-related injuries, orthopedic surgery, balance/gait impairments, pain syndromes, repetitive stress injuries, postural problems, and neck and back injuries.
Our committed staff provides excellent clinical care in a personalized, respectful manner. Our staff is comprised entirely of professional licensed therapists to ensure the highest quality of care.

Check in: It is important that you let us know you have arrived for your appointment.
- Please allow adequate time for parking and check in.
- Park Assist is available free of charge.
- Please be prepared to pay your copay if applicable. We accept cash, check and credit.
- Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first appointment to fill out a health status questionnaire.
Location: First floor, turn right of the main reception desk.

Insurance Referral
- Please call your PCP prior to your visit to determine if they need to submit a referral for therapy. There are many insurance plans and authorization requirements vary from plan to plan.
- Our managed care coordinator will confirm your authorization and benefits with a reminder call two days prior to you first appointment.
- If authorization is required by your insurance and we have not received it by the time of your appointment, you will need to sign a waiver that guarantees payment.
Preparing for Your Visit
During your first visit, a thorough initial evaluation is performed with each patient in order to develop a specific, individualized treatment program. Our therapists will work with you to identify your goals.
What to wear (or bring to change into):
- Patients with back or lower extremity problems should bring shorts or loose fitting sweat pants.
- Patients with neck or shoulder problems should bring a tank top or sports bra or can change into a hospital gown
Need to bring:
- Physician prescription/order for therapy - if the order is not entered into the BIDMC computer system by your physician, a written order will be required from the referring provider.
- If one was not given to you at the time of your MD appointment, the doctor's office can fax it directly to the department at (781) 528-2570.
- A current medication list to provide for your therapist.
Co-pay:
- Copayment for PT and OT is collected when you check-in for your appointment.
- Cash, check, and all major credit cards are accepted forms of payment.
Meet Our Team
Judith Criscitiello, OTL/R, CHT
Judy has been practicing as an OT since her graduation from the University of New Hampshire in 1989. She became a Certified Hand Therapist in 1995, which requires participation in extensive ongoing clinical training. Her professional interests include treatment of trauma, post-surgical, and overuse injuries. She enjoys fostering understanding through patient education, and incorporates a holistic approach to the management of injuries and pain. As a violinist, she also has an interest in working with musicians and has presented to the Boston Symphony Orchestra and New England Conservatory on injury prevention and management. Judy’s personal interests include yoga, outdoor/nature activities, playing violin/fiddle, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Heather Broglio, PT OCS
Heather has been practicing physical therapy since her graduation from University of Mass Lowell in 1989. Her early career consisted of working in acute care and management. Her interests then shifted to the outpatient setting. In 1999 after completing a year long residency at the Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy her career has been focused on incorporating manual therapy techniques into her treatment. This includes joint mobilization, manipulations, and MET (metabolic exercise therapy). These skills and special interest in sports and personal training has allowed her to excel at guiding her patients back to their sport. She is a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics in our clinic after becoming Board Certified in 2007. She has been active in athletics her whole life, still plays organized soccer, and currently assists coaching her children in soccer.
Paul Livolsi, PT, DPTh
Paul received his Master's Degree in Physical Therapy in 1997 from University of Massachusetts - Lowell and then received his Doctorate degree in 2005. He has been practicing since 1998. His clinical interests include: Orthopedics, Manual Therapy, and Musculoskeletal Exercise Program Development. His experience extends from VA Healthcare System to private practice and now hospital-based community health center. Paul has completed continuing education coursework on manual therapy for evaluation and treatment of lumbar/thoracic/cervical areas and sacroiliac joint dysfunction, as well as, other areas of orthopedics. Paul has been an active participant in clinical education for BIDMC system for students from the surrounding clinical institutions.
Noreen Straughn, OTL/R, CHT
Noreen is a Lead for Occupational Therapy at BIDHC- Lexington. She graduated from the Occupational Therapy program at Tufts University in 1988. Noreen has been an Occupational Therapist on BIDMC’s Hand Service since 1989. She worked in Boston for 10 years beginning with inpatient orthopedics and then becoming the Outpatient Clinical Coordinator. She has been the lead therapist at BIDHC-Lexington since 2000 and is a Certified Hand Therapist. Noreen specializes in post-operative rehabilitation from hand surgery as well as treatment of repetitive strain injuries. She has also participated in research on post surgical wound healing techniques with BIDMC surgeons.
Heidi Brincklow, PT
Heidi Brincklow graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Therapy in 1993. Out of college she began working in out patient orthopedics. Most of her career has been in out patient Sports Medicine Rehabilitation. Heidi has worked with youth sports teams in education, stretching, and injury prevention. She has participated in prescreening sports physicals for Middle School thru High School students. She has special interests in shoulders, knees, and ankles. She has completed continuing education course work on manual therapy for shoulders, hip, ankle, lumbar, and sacroiliac joint dysfunctions.
Johanna Guarino, PT OCS
Johanna is a Lead for Physical Therapy at BIDHC-Lexington. She has been a practicing physical therapist since graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 1989. In 1999, Johanna completed a year long residency and received a Certificate from the Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy. In 2007, she received a certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist which she recently recertified. Johanna also has been a teaching assistant at Boston University.
Katherine Bragg
Katherine received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Simmons University in Boston Massachusetts in 2017. Before that, she attended University of New England in Biddeford Maine to receive her Bachelors of Applied Exercise Science. Her clinical interests include those with neurologic and musculoskeletal diagnosis, and her goal is to sit for the orthopedic clinical specialty (OCS) exam in the upcoming year. She has been working both as an outpatient and inpatient physical therapist for BIDMC for the past year, giving her a background in most patient populations. Outside of work, she enjoys being active outdoors including participating in soccer, hiking/camping, and snowboarding, she also appreciates baking and cooking, while always looking for a new recipe.
