Laboratory at Chestnut Hill
At Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare-Chestnut Hill, certified phlebotomists draw blood and collect specimens. We process some blood tests and specimens on site, and send others to our clinical laboratory at BIDMC in Boston.
Our laboratory is located next to our Urgent Care Center.
We provide walk-in service; you do not need an appointment.
Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday and most holidays, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Doctor’s Orders Required
While you do not need an appointment, you do need a signed order from your doctor before we can draw blood or collect specimens. Physician offices order lab work using BIDMC’s web-based order entry system. You can also bring the physician’s orders to the lab with you.
If we find that your physician is not in our web-based system, we will need a day to process your paperwork before we can perform your lab work.
Once the tests are complete, your doctor can review the results in our online medical record system. If you are a member of PatientSite, you may also be able to review your results. If you have questions about your test results, call your physician’s office.

We accept most major insurance plans. Please contact your insurance provider with questions about coverage.
Our lab needs a signed order from physician offices before we can collect or process patient blood or specimens. Our web-based order entry system allows for an authorizing signature. You orders must also include all appropriate ICD9 codes for billing and reimbursement purposes.
