Note from the Executive Director
As I reflect on over three decades leading the Bowdoin Street Health Center, I am filled with joy at this amazing opportunity I have had. I came in 1981, knowing nothing about health care but deeply committed to community-based change. I convinced our board and Carney Hospital that I could learn and lead and I was given a chance. I have loved every minute of this journey. My true purpose has always, simply, been to help others and I have been able to do that every day, alongside talented and committed colleagues, who work tirelessly to do the same. Together, we have touched countless lives as part of a movement to reach those who are most vulnerable. And, I am proud of what we have accomplished together for our patients, our community, and for one another. While I have come to appreciate more fully my role in fulfilling our promises, I know that it is not possible without many, many partners. I am grateful to our patients, our neighbors, our hospital partner Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, our public officials, our community partners, and our donors. We have made a real difference and more importantly, we will continue to make a difference, long after I retire. Bowdoin is a very special place and I’m glad to have been able to celebrate how special with all of you.
With deepest gratitude,
