Annual Meeting of the Boards

October 10, 2019

On October 10, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center welcomed nearly 300 guests for its Annual Meeting of the Boards at the Four Seasons Hotel. Board of Trustees Chair Carol F. Anderson shared highlights and advances from the past year, including a video of her visit with Dudley the bull, who was adopted by Health Technology Exploration Center Executive Director John Halamka, MD. BIDMC President Peter J. Healy then shared an update on the medical center's achievements in philanthropy; introduced new division chiefs and Chief Academic Officer Gyongyi Szabo, MD, PhD; and presented the Daniel J. Jick Award to two dedicated members of the BIDMC community: Research Oversight Committee Chair Michael Cronin and Division of Neonatology Chief and Klarman Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Director DeWayne Pursley, MD, MPH.

Trustee and Governance and Nominating Committee Chair Alan Rottenberg formally introduced and welcomed new board members to the BIDMC family. Beth Israel Lahey Health President and CEO Kevin Tabb, MD, then gave remarks about his recent hike to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and recounted the lessons he learned along the way about preparation, persevering, pacing, partnership, and perspective — all attributes that he and his team utilized during the establishment of the Beth Israel Lahey Health system and the construction of BIDMC's new inpatient building.
