Vasculitis is inflammation of your blood vessels that can cause them to thicken, scar, and become weak and narrow.
Overview and Symptoms
When blood vessels are damaged, blood is not delivered to organs and tissue they way it should be; tissue and organs can be damaged by lack of blood flow.
There are different types of vasculitis. Some people have it for a short time and do not require treatment. Others have chronic vasculitis and do need ongoing treatment to reduce inflammation and prevent it from happening again.
Treatment
Vasculitis treatment focuses on reducing the inflammation. Treatment may include:
- Medications to reduce inflammation
- Medications that suppress the immune system
