Our patients directly benefit from the major research conducted here at BIDMC. When you first meet with your liver specialist, you may be asked about your interest in participating in one of our clinical research trials.
While participation is voluntary, there are advantages to joining a study. First, it offers you the opportunity to gain access to the latest breakthrough treatments that often do not exist elsewhere. Participating in clinical trials also gives you a chance to be part of the discovery process as scientists find new methods to diagnosis and treat liver disease and learn more about the cause of certain liver diseases.
Even if you do not participate in a clinical research trial, you can be confident your treatment plan at the Liver Center will include the most up-to-date and effective methods—based on our evolving scientific evidence as well as your own unique case.
