The Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Clinic at the Center for Cardiovascular Genetics brings together experts in cardiology, genetics, heart failure, arrhythmia, imaging, and surgery to provide coordinated care for patients with HCM.
The BIDMC HCM Clinic offers comprehensive care for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, including genetic counseling and treatment options such as implantable devices and surgery. Our clinic is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians and staff who work together to facilitate state-of-the-art patient care.
Diagnosing & Treating HCM
Patients at the HCM Clinic undergo a thorough evaluation that may include advanced imaging. Our team works closely with the Center for Cardiovascular Genetics to provide a personalized plan for patients and families with suspected or diagnosed HCM. Specialists from the Advanced Heart Failure Program and Arrhythmia Services also partner with patients to offer some of the most advanced care available.
Surgical Expertise
Hassan Rastegar, MD, BIDMC HCM Surgical Director, is an internationally known cardiac surgeon. Dr. Rastegar has extensive experience with HCM and has performed over 1,000 successful surgeries (septal myectomies) on patients with severe symptoms. The procedure provides outflow obstruction relief to patients with HCM, extending longevity and restoring their quality of life.
