About Our Undergraduate Program

It is a privilege for us in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine to have medical students in their third and fourth years rotating through our department. Our residents and faculty take pride in our field and welcome the opportunity to educate medical students about the broad scope of our field and to contribute to their future medical careers!

Harvard medical students enrolled in the Core Clerkship in Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will spend a minimum of one week rotating with the department and may elect to participate in an additional two week selective in perioperative medicine.

Additionally, the department offers a four-week elective clinical clerkship in anesthesiology to fourth year medical students. This rotation will expose students to a broad view of the field of anesthesiology and offers a great deal of flexibility based on the medical student's ultimate goals and interests. The department also offers a clerkship in Pain Relief in Childbirth and a clerkship in Surgical Intensive Care to fourth-year medical students.

If you have any questions, please email our Anesthesia Education Office.
