About the Parikh Research Lab
Samir Parikh, MD
Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School
The Parikh laboratory researches molecular mechanisms of disease in the intensive care unit. Projects investigate the abnormal host vascular response to severe infections that leads to deadly complications of sepsis and the role of acute metabolic derangements in multi-organ dysfunction syndrome. In both projects, we are interested in understanding the pathways that enable most people to withstand acute stressors, and in turn, seek to apply that knowledge to benefit those at risk for adverse outcomes. Through these studies, we seek to identify genetic and biochemical markers and mediators of disease that can be measured for risk assessment and targeted for novel therapies.
