Weight Loss Surgery Information Sessions & Support Groups
There are lots of ways to learn about the Weight Loss Surgery Program at BIDMC, and receive support after surgery.
If you are planning to make an appointment to discuss your options for Weight Loss Surgery, it is a requirement of the program that you first attend a free information session at BIDMC or watch the new patient webinar below, prior to your first appointment If you are attending in person, you are welcome to bring friends and adult family members. Call 617-667-2845 for more information.
A weight loss surgery information session gives you an overview of BIDMC's bariatric surgery program and comprehensive, reliable information from one of our surgeons about the weight loss procedures we perform:
Support groups are a chance for post-operative patients to gather, share experiences, get ideas and most of all, gain support from peers. Support groups are an excellent opportunity to talk about your frustrations, victories and challenges after weight loss surgery.
Attending support groups can be helpful for someone one month out of surgery or five years out of surgery. Come prepared with questions and be willing to participate. Communication and openness are the keys to this group's success.
In cases of inclement weather, cancellations will align with those of the Boston Public School system. Call 617-667-2845 to confirm whether an information session or post-op support group has been canceled.
