Advanced Care, Convenient Access

The Division of Podiatry provides preventative and advanced care for a variety of foot and ankle conditions in convenient community settings. Our goal is to bring expert Boston care to you.

A Tradition of Leadership and Innovation

BIDMC's full-time, board-certified foot surgeons have long been recognized as leaders and innovators in the surgical and nonsurgical care of complex diabetic foot problems. This tradition goes back to the early days of the Joslin Diabetes Center and Dr. Elliot Joslin himself. In collaboration with the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, our surgeons have developed protocols and surgical procedures that have significantly reduced major amputation rates in patients with diabetes. This multidisciplinary team approach serves as the standard of care for diabetic foot problems and wound care around the country.

National and International Recognition

The Division’s foot surgeons are nationally and internationally recognized for their expertise in reconstructive surgery and diabetic foot care. They regularly speak at medical and surgical conferences sponsored by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the American Diabetes Association, and the international organization Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons.

In addition, our surgeons hold leadership positions in national organizations such as the American Podiatric Medical Association and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Our doctors are also involved in research and have published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Diabetes, and Diabetes Care.
