Marc Mendoza has been surrounded by people who work in healthcare for as long as he can remember. His father was a pediatrician, his mother and sister are nurses, and his fiancé is a midwife.

“Healthcare feels like home,” he says.

As an employee in the Development Office at BIDMC, Marc appreciates working alongside clinicians and care teams. “It’s a privilege to encounter and work with medical teams that continue to save and change lives on a daily basis,” Marc says.

First hand, Marc says he witnessed this amazing care when his father was a patient of the Cancer Center at BIDMC. “My entire family was cared for compassionately. My dad passed away in 2015, and I now work with folks who knew him,” he says. “It helps his memory live on and is really special.”

An avid runner, Marc joined Team BIDMC to conquer the Boston Marathon for a second time in his father’s honor. Funds donated in support of Marc will directly benefit the innovative work by physicians, staff and researchers of the Cancer Center.

“I knew it was time to run this race again for my dad and for everyone who has been impacted by cancer,” he says. “Any injuries I face and the long training runs I go on truly pale in comparison to the stories of those fighting cancer.”
