Navigating the Gluten-Free Diet: Insights and Guidance to Address in the Adult and Pediatric Celiac Population
Join the Harvard Medical School Celiac Education and Research Program and the National Celiac Association for the first webinar in our Fall 2025 “From the Experts – All Things Celiac” series. Speakers will present on selected topics for 60 minutes, followed by 15 minutes for Q&A, on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:15 pm ET. Please note our Friday date.
Following the gluten-free diet is undeniably challenging yet, fortunately, numerous strategies exist to support people with celiac disease. Amelie Therrien, MD, Associate Director of Research, Celiac Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA, will explain how gluten negatively affects the body in individuals with celiac disease and the best strategies to recover after gluten exposure. Katarina Mollo, MEd, RDN, LDN, clinical dietitian, Center for Celiac Research and Treatment, MassGeneral Brigham, will review the nuances of reading labels to maintain a gluten-free diet, as well as the basics of preventing cross-contact with gluten during food preparation. Mariah K. Jackson, PhD, RDN, LMNT, Assistant Professor, Medical Nutrition Program, University of Nebraska, will address how to safely and gracefully navigate the gluten-free diet in social situations for both pediatric and adult individuals with celiac disease.
Amelie Therrien, MD, will serve as moderator for the seminar. Chris Rich, executive director of the National Celiac Association, will open and close the webinar. A Q&A session will follow the presentations; please submit general questions below or during the webinar on the Zoom platform.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs): This course (220323-RSS) is approved by the Boston Children’s Hospital’s Continuing Education Department for 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for physicians, 1.25 contact hours for nurses, 1.25 ACE CE continuing education credits for social workers, and 1.25 CEUs for Registered Dietitians. Instructions for claiming credits will be made available during the webinar and transcripts will be available within 30 days.
