Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders
Welcome to the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Clinic at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, located in Boston, MA in the Harvard Longwood Medical Area. Our clinical care center is devoted to providing excellence in diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, research and clinical trials and educational resources for our patients, their families and caregivers.
In recognition of our multi-faceted work to develop novel treatments for Parkinson's disease, provide individualized care and educate the public, our clinic has been designated as a Center of Excellence by the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF).
Our free Saturday morning speaker series is open to all of our patients and their care partners interested in learning more about Parkinson's disease.
Our center hosted the 16th Annual Edward I. Rudman Parkinson's Disease Patient and Caregiver Symposium for our patients, their families, and caregivers on Saturday, October 20, 2012.

This year's event, entitled Hot Topics in Parkinson's Disease, featured a knowlegeable panel of speakers, discussing the latest breakthroughs in Parkinson's disease treatment and research.

Our Center is proud to be on the leading edge not only in diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's and similar illnesses, but in the study of new ways to help patients manage their disease. To help keep our patient's moving and living a healthy life style, we have piloted a number of modified fitness programs, including Zumba, tai chi and golf. While it is still unclear to what extent these activities impact patients, there is evidence they can stabilize the effects of the disease, slowing the degree to which everyday movement becomes difficult.
Our center is always working to find new treatments and therapies for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. We invite our patients to learn about and take part in our various research studies.
The newly opened Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Resource Center offers patients and their families educational books, brochures, and DVDs, information regarding our Wellness Programs, and referrals to local and internet resources.
