Dietetic Internship Program

Dietetic interns and facultyThe BIDMC Dietetic Internship is a 10-month program with an emphasis in nutrition therapy. The program provides about 1,200 supervised hours in Clinical Nutrition, Counseling, Foodservice Management, and Community Nutrition.

Dietetic interns receive in-depth training in:

  • Outpatient counseling
  • Malnutrition diagnosis and treatment
  • Enteral nutrition support
  • Parenteral nutrition support

Interns also participate in weekly classes, group projects, and academic lectures to foster learning and enrich the internship experience.

Feedback from our interns indicates their high satisfaction with the program. They appreciate the team atmosphere, weekly class days that allow them to connect and bond with classmates, a complex and diverse patient population, and our dedicated preceptors.

BIDMC dietetic interns enjoy the hospital’s close proximity to other outstanding medical facilities, like Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In addition, they find time to explore nearby historical and cultural attractions such as the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, the Boston Garden, and, of course, Fenway Park.
