What to Expect at Your First Visit to the Melanoma/Skin Cancer Program

Your initial appointment with our multidisciplinary Melanoma/Skin Cancer Program will be coordinated to ensure an optimal review of your diagnosis and the development of the best personalized treatment plan.

At this appointment, you will meet with a medical oncologist, a surgeon and / or a dermatologist. This is why it is imperative that we receive all of your test and procedure results prior to being seen. We encourage you to bring a family member or friend who can take notes, leaving you free to be fully engaged in the discussion.

The multidisciplinary clinic meets on Wednesdays. You should plan for your initial appointment to take three to five hours, likely beginning between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. All aspects of your treatment will be outlined at that time, and we will make arrangements for your follow-up appointments. If you have a diagnosis of stage IV or metastatic melanoma, we will arrange for you to be seen by our melanoma specialists in the Immuno-Oncology Program.
