Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease

You will be referred to a specialist called a nephrologist, who is dedicated to managing kidney diseases. The goals of chronic kidney disease treatment are to:

  • Prevent or delay progression of kidney damage
  • Prevent and treat complications

Treatment of chronic kidney disease depends on its stage. Severe chronic kidney disease must be treated with dialysis or kidney transplantation.
