Screening for Infertility in Women

En Español (Spanish Version)

Main Page | Risk Factors | Symptoms | Diagnosis | Treatment | Screening | Reducing Your Risk | Talking to Your Doctor | Living With Infertility | Resource Guide

The purpose of screening is early diagnosis and treatment. Screening tests are usually administered to people without current symptoms, but who may be at high risk for certain diseases or conditions.

There are no presymptomatic screening tests to date for infertility.

Patients at risk for tubal disease due to prior pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic abscess, ruptured appendix, or known prior adhesions should consider a screening test to check for tubal patency (hysterosalpingogram).
