Today's entry is short from me but big on information and an exciting new project. Please see the announcement below and consider participating.

----------

Before the public launch of our first initiative, we want to introduce you to The Pathways Project, a radically inclusive organization that creates communities and catalyzes movements that put people at the center of health care.

During the past year, we have considered, brainstormed, and pondered how to act on our core commitments of putting patients at the center of health care, health policy, and survivorship and of ensuring that health equity is integral to every conversation. Building on our previous joint efforts, we began with the concept of producing a panorama of survivors across the nation telling their authentic stories and sharing insights. Over time and wide-ranging discussion, we have created a series of ongoing projects under the umbrella of The Pathways Project (www.pathways-project.org). Central to this undertaking is dedication to meaningful, sustained, landscape-changing participation in our own recovery, care, and after-health crisis lives. Our initial focus is cancer because that is the health issue with which we are most experienced, but we will expand to cover other health issues over time.

The Pathways Project's first discrete project is Patient Voices, a radically inclusive think tank that puts patients at the center of health care research and delivery. We will launch this project in a few weeks with the distribution of a Discussion Paper, "Personalized Medicine and Cancer Health Disparities." We hope to enhance awareness and stimulate dialogue to catalyze action on this important public health and social justice issue.

In the meantime, please visit Patient Voices and add your voice. Join the community forming around issues important to patients, survivors, families, and caregivers.

Best regards,

Gwen Darien and Mary Jackson Scroggins
