Tips for taking Xeloda

In my group for women with Stage IV breast cancer, we had a lively discussion this week about taking Xeloda. One woman has been on it for a while and wrote this list of tips to make it easier for others:

1) Always eat a fair amount before taking the pills. In the morning, I am sure to always include yogurt in my breakfast. This helps in keeping the nausea at bay.
2) I like to use the L'Occitane shea butter hand creams and I use them all the time to counteract the peeling that can happen on your hands with Xeloda (I have tubes everywhere -- next to the kitchen sink, in the bathroom, by my couch, by my bed, in my pocketbook, etc.). When my hands really feel like they're burning, I'll use OTC hydrocortisone cream on my hands and that seems to help.
3) For my feet, I use Nouriva Repair Moisturizing Cream every night when I go to bed. I get it online through this link:
Hope this is helpful to members of the group just starting on Xeloda. It's a great drug, and long may it maintain all of us!
