ASCO Patient Website

Some of you may already be familiar with ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncologists)'s terrific website for patients and families: Cancernet. It is full of useful information, resources, and is one of the most reliable, thorough, and honest cancer websites on the Net.

As a member of their Advisory Board, I often have the chance to review materials before they are posted, and it is always a pleasurable and very easy job. Most of the time, I have no suggestions or edits for improvement.

Here is a note that I just received and information that, I hope, will encourage you to check it out:

I'm very pleased to announce that ASCO's newly redesigned patient education website, Cancer.Net, www.cancer.net, is now live! Please visit the site and let your patients and colleagues know about the new streamlined navigation, interactive features, and easy-to-find cancer information. The new, modern design allows Cancer.Net to highlight more materials on the homepage so patients can quickly access the information they need. It also includes several different formats for patients to learn about cancer, such as educational videos from ASCO experts, podcasts, and weekly articles on all aspects of cancer care. Plus, patients can now easily share the information they find with family and friends through enhanced sharing tools.

We're still working out small issues but are looking forward to showcasing Cancer.Net during the upcoming national broadcasts of Skate America (Cancer.Net is the title sponsor of this pre-Olympic competition, airing November 15 on NBC from 2-4 PM ET), and Kaleidoscope (Cancer.Net is the official clinical cancer information resource for this cancer awareness special airing on November 26 on FOX from 4-5:30 PM ET).
