Bill Nawn and His Miles of Gratitude
On April 18, 2011, Bill Nawn will run the Boston Marathon not once, but twice. Running what is known in the world of "ultra running" as a double marathon, he will start from the marathon finish line on Boylston Street at 5:00 a.m. and run to Hopkinton where he will join the rest of the marathon runners and journey back to Boston. For Bill, that is a grand total of 52.4 miles in one day. He will run to honor his mother, Marion Kerr Nawn. Marion, who received treatment for leukemia at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), passed away this past August.
Bill reached out to Grateful Nation in early January to let us know that he would be fundraising for BIDMC and why.
In Bill's words, "It is difficult for our family to adequately express the depth of our gratitude for the care and love she received; especially during her final weeks and days at BIDMC's 7 Feldberg. I believe we should all use the gifts we've been given to give back. I have this ability, and I'll use it to give back to an institution and staff that treated Mom with so much dignity and respect that she referred to them as her 'hospital family'."
