Clinical Trials

The Center for Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery is co-sponsoring clinical trials to evaluate the benefits of laparoscopic surgery and new, non-surgical therapies for renal and prostate tumors. For more information about the following trials and whether you qualify, please call 617-667-2898.

  • PROST-QA: Prostate Cancer Outcomes and Satisfaction with Treatment Quality Assessment. Evaluating the effects of therapy choices on patient health related quality of life and patient and spouse satisfaction with care. Protocol #05-178
  • Harvard/Michigan Prostate Biopsy Cohort. By prospectively collecting blood, urine and prostate tissue samples from patients undergoing prostate biopsy, we can evaluate the samples for possible biomarkers that may eventually assist with cancer detection, prevention, or curative treatment without surgery. Protocol #05-209
  • Phase I/II Trial of Radiosurgical Ablation of Renal Tumors Using the CyberKnife. Evaluating the safety and efficacy of non-surgical stereotactic radioablation for renal tumors. Stereotactic radiosurgery is the non-invasive administration of radiation to very specific areas of the body (tumors) without damaging the surrounding tissue.

BIDMC’s Renal Tumor Clinic and Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center are jointly conducting trials of investigational treatments for patients with high-risk renal tumors. For information about the trials, please click here. To determine whether you qualify, call 617-667-4075.
