The BIDMC Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine conducts innovative basic science and clinical research. These internationally recognized investigators supervise a variety of research programs including active research in the areas of the physiology and neurobiology of sleep, physiology and response of the body to the stress of hypoxia (low oxygen levels in the blood), and lung immune cell biology and function in healthy and disease. Research is conducted through funds from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), non-Federal and educational grants. Researchers in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine are involved in the supervision and teaching of doctoral and postdoctoral research fellows, residents and medical students.
