Hollenberg Lab: Research
Our Major Research Interests
- The mechanisms by which nuclear receptors mediate transcriptional regulation of target genes. We use the thyroid hormone receptor as a odel system.
- The mechanisms by which nutritional pathways mediate the regulation of thyroid hormone levels. This action is mediated through the TRH neuron in the hypothalamus.

We have recently made significant advances in understanding the mechanisms by which nuclear receptors recruit nuclear corepressors. This work has relevance to all nuclear receptors.
In addition we have characterized the molecular mechanism by which two key signaling pathways, namely the melanocortin and leptin pathways, target the TRH promoter.
