Inaugural Silverman Symposium
On March 31, 2008 the Silverman Institute hosted Dr Brent James MD, MS the executive Director of the Institute for Health Care Delivery Research; Vice President, Medical Research and Continuing Medical Education at Intermountain Health Care.
At a dinner at the Four Seasons Boston, Dr James provided an evening lecture for our Board of Directors, Trustees, Overseers and friends entitled “Doing Well by Doing Good: The Business Case for Quality”.
On April 1st, the Silverman Institute hosted Dr James at BIDMC for a day of lecturing and consulting which culminated in the display of 80 posters celebrating quality and safety accomplishments at BIDMC.
“Quality and Safety at Work: Striving to Be Better” was the theme of the day as the symposium commenced with an address from keynote speaker Brent C. James, MD, MS. Morning and afternoon Poster Sessions highlighted the work of over 80 BIDMC projects and teams targeted toward improving quality of patient care and safety. An afternoon panel discussion featuring James, Mark Zeidel, MD, Chair, Department of Medicine, and Donald Goldmann, MD, Senior Vice President, Institute for Healthcare Improvement was standing room only.
