BOSTON - Eileen McCarthy, a leader in state and federal regulatory compliance matters, has been named Senior Vice President for Compliance, Audit and Risk at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
McCarthy joins BIDMC after serving as the Chief Compliance Officer at Partners Health Care since 2004, providing leadership to all of the major Partners' affiliated hospitals as well as to its Research Compliance program. At BIDMC, she will report directly to President and CEO Kevin Tabb, MD.
"Under her leadership, the BIDMC Office of Compliance and Business Conduct will help ensure integrity at work for all members of the BIDMC community in all aspects of the important work we do," said Tabb. "She will oversee BIDMC's compliance with government and other agency rules and regulations, as well as our own organizational Code of Conduct, policies and procedures."
McCarthy will spearhead ongoing efforts to give staff the knowledge and information needed about a wide variety of important topics, including patient privacy and confidentiality, proper billing and coding practices, financial audit and risk matters and proper business conduct.
Prior to joining the Partners corporate office, McCarthy was the Director of Compliance at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and at South Shore Hospital.
McCarthy received a BS in Nursing from Boston College and a Master of Health Care Administration from Simmons College. She started her career in nursing and was Vice President of Patient Care Services in two health care institutions before starting her work in compliance.
