BOSTON – Carolyn Bernstein, MD, a specialist in headache medicine, has joined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a full-time member of the Arnold Pain Center.
Bernstein joins the departments of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine and Neurology from Cambridge Health Alliance, where she was the Director of the Women’s Headache Center and a staff neurologist for 18 years. A graduate off the Boston University School of Medicine, she interned at Boston City Hospital and did post graduate training there and at New England Medical Center. She is board certified in neurology, psychiatry and headache medicine.
Bernstein won the National Headache Healthcare Provider of the Year award in 2007. She was the Cambridge Health Alliance Neurology Clerkship Director for the Harvard Medical School Cambridge Integrated Clerkship and was awarded the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2006; in 2007, she won the Leonard Tow award for Humanism in Medicine given by Harvard Medical School and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
The author of The Migraine Brain (Free Press 2008), her clinical interest include headache and Migraine, hormonal headaches and women’s Issues in neurology. Her research interests include PTSD and migraine disability, hormonal headaches and Integrative therapies for headache.
