On The Rise Names Bela Bashar, MD, to Board of Directors
OTR Board President Carol Goss announces Bashar's appointment.

ROXBURY--Bela Bashar, MD, Clinical Director of HIV Services, The Dimock Center, has joined the Board of Directors of On The Rise (OTR), the Cambridge-based program that provides assistance and services for women in the Greater Boston area who are homeless or in crisis.
Bashar, who has a clinical appointment at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School, took part in a volunteer project recently at OTR called Make-It-Home, which helps provide homeless women with the things they need when they move into an apartment.
“When a homeless woman finally gets an apartment, she needs absolutely everything—dishes, pots for cooking, sheets, towels. We help her make a wish list, and then we contact people and businesses and ask them to donate those things, either new or used. That way she can begin to make a home,” said Bashar in a recent article in the online edition of the Cambridge Chronicle.
