BIDMC hosts for an entire year approximately 55 HMS third year students who are completing the HMS Principle Clinical Experience "(PCE) course. Additionally, over the course of one year, upwards of 200 fourth-year medical students from Harvard and from schools from across the globe join us to complete one-month elective clerkships. OMA sponsors a monthly "Diversity Round Table" led by Dr. Campo where rotating third and fourth year students at BIDMC may explore issues relating to multiculturalism in medicine. Past discussion themes have ranged from language barriers to providing optimal care on the wards, to how to respond to homophobic comments made by a supervising physician. Students participating in the Diversity Round Table have found the experience invaluable; the discussions expand the scope of medical education necessary for all of us caring for our increasingly diverse patients. 

Dr. Campo also represents BIDMC in a variety of HMS education-related programs such as: the Faculty Diversity and Development Task Force, the Admissions Committee, the Office of Recruitment & Multicultural Affairs' Intersociety Multicultural Fellows Committee, and the Consortium of Harvard Affiliated Offices for Faculty Development and Diversity (CHADD). He has also been an ambassador to other institutions to champion BIDMC's diversity efforts, serving as a guest lecturer regionally at MGH, BWH, and the Massachusetts Medical Society, and nationally at UCLA School of Medicine, UC Irvine School of Medicine, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and USC School of Medicine. He also facilitates faculty diversity training via his various BIDMC and HMS committee affiliations.

Dr. Campo also contributed to hospital-wide efforts to expand diversity education by participating in the Subcommittee on Educational Environment which reported to the 2010 BIDMC Education Strategic Review Steering Committee.  These committees were chartered to assess ways in which we can enhance diversity within the context of BIDMC's educational mission.
